PC Load Letter

"PC Load Letter? What the F*&k
does that mean?" In the movie "Office Space," it was simply a copy
machine error Michael Bolton didn't know how to deal with. In the
Seattle music scene, however, PC Load Letter is a three-piece band
that you may have never heard of, but that you should definitely
start listening to now. And with a new CD coming out in July, you
will have the opportunity to catch them soon.
Chris Vincent and Jake Gray, who have known each other since
elementary school, had started a project about four years ago and
were working on recording some demo material at Chris' house. Chris
has been playing guitar for about fifteen years, and Jake has
played bass around the same length of time. They ran into their old
elementary school buddy, Elvin Bucu, who happened to have been
mastering the drums for the past ten years. They invited him over
to try out adding drums into the mix the next day, and PC Load
Letter was born.
So what does a band with a name like PC Load Letter sound like? In
lead singer, Chris Vincent's words, "I'd say it's a mix of rock,
blues and punk in a classic rock kinda style. We hit a whole bunch
of different genres - we'll play a slow blues tune, then turn
around and play a hard rock song, then maybe a country ballad
followed by a kind of pop-punk tune. We try to hit every style of
music we like without losing the overall vibe of our band - which
is to not take ourselves seriously at all, but still write about
things that aren't funny." And although they don't take themselves
too seriously, each and every one of them is an extremely talented
musician, putting forth songs that are both technically remarkable
and thoroughly enjoyable to listen to. In fact, the band is
sponsored by local company, N-Tune, who make onboard chromatic
tuners. "We are honored to have PC Load Letter endorse N-Tune,"
explained Zero Crossing Vice President of Sales and Marketing,
Philip C. Sudore. "The band has a very unique and innovative sound.
PC Load Letter's front man, Chris Vincent, is one of the most
prolific guitarists of our time, a natural fit for the N-Tune
OnBoard tuning system." (For more information about N-Tune, go to:
www.ntune.com or myspace.com/ntuner).
In addition to their technical competency on their respective
instruments, the members of PCLL all prove to have a knack for
excellent songwriting. They collaborate to make their music,
generally starting off with either Jake or Chris coming up with a
riff or part of a song, and then all coming together to write it
out. Elvin also has songs that he brings, and being an accomplished
piano player, he has no problem coming up with melodies and
harmonies in addition to the drum parts. Generally they will write
an entire album's worth of music, and then write the vocals to fit
the songs. Their songs capture such a diversity of genres, subject
matter and sound that you never know what they're going to play
next - you just know it's going to be damn good.
