Why fashion?
I grew up around fashion since I was a baby. My mother is an
amazing seamstress who made customize clothing for me and siblings
when we were children. My mother owns a sewing contracting business
for over 10 years now. I grew up surrounded by fabrics, industrial
sewing machines, patterns, intense deadlines, and thread clippings
all over my clothes. I went to South Seattle Community College and
received my Associate of Business and then received my
Baccalaureate of Science in Fashion Marketing and Management in
Spring 2009.
What NOUN has been the biggest influence on your designs?
Explain.
Momma- She's strong, feminine, and super cool. She introduced me to
fashion and has been so supportive with this line.
What's the best part of being a designer out of Seattle and
how do you think you can benefit from that?
Tons of petite women in Seattle. My line is for petites. Enough
said.
What's a typical night out for you? Where do you like to go
to let loose but also be fashionable?
LOL. It starts off with drinks with my girlfriends, then running
around the city, then ending the night at my friend's apartment in
Capitol Hill. That's where all the girls crash on one tiny
bed.
What was the last concert you went to?
Mad Rad @ Neumos.
What bands/groups are the most played on your iPod either
while designing or in general?
Kanye West
Number one most looked at website?
Unfortunately...Facebook. I'm addicted.
What's a daily "ritual" or something you would feel off
without having/doing every morning?
Getting my daily bread from fashionweekdaily.com, sartorialist.com
and msn.com finances articles.
If you could dress one celebrity with your designs, who
would best represent the style you are targeting?
Petite celeb, Rachel Bilson. Her style is young, chic, and
effortless.
And most importantly what makes your line so
special?
It's a contemporary petite women's line that is created for
petites. Many women's clothing lines usually start with a misses
then do a sub line for petites. This line is strictly for the
vertically challenged fashionistas!
