It's a strange irony that I write an article about Project
Lionheart. Irony because the intertwines that brought me to
write this article is prodigy of Seattle's almost incestual music
scene, and its ability to come full circle in the strangest ways.
Irony because not only do I know the band personally, I have been a
peer, friend and fan before the group emerged like a phoenix back
in 2008. Irony because I have seen this band pay dues, fight
fights, and lay the groundwork for the musical foundation that
exudes what Project Lionheart
is about. Irony because I normally do not write about bands I'm
friends with, but this is an exception... I know this band, they
are a part of a musical family here in Seattle, and this is what I
know.
My first impression of frontman Caleb Cunningham and Jerod Keith
(bass) was in ...

Sink or Swim is both a great name and an exceedingly
talented new band. Particularly being brand new, sink or swim is
really the only thing a band can try to do in today's music scene.
And with what these guys have to offer, they are most definitely
set up to swim.
With Frank Arcega, aka The Boss Demus, on guitar and vocals, Sam
Thorkildsen, aka Lbo, on bass and Robert Croot, aka Jahnny Bones,
on drums, Sink or Swim plays a highly skilled set of reggae dub
rock music that is both fun and mesmerizing. The band is heavily
influenced by bands like Sublime and 311, but they are not a
sound-alike by any means. More and more musical influences creep
into their music all the time and sometimes when you least expect
it. There are bits of punk, ska, surf, hip-hop, rock and even an
occasional dance ...
Green Garage
Productions is a group of Musicians, Artists, Songwriters,
Studio Engineers, and great friends unified in the belief and
practice of making music that gives people more than a sound to
compare to their favorite artist. "We are not Hip Hop, we're not
Rock, Jazz, Techno, R&B and all those other genres you find on
a drop down on myspace," explains Jordan Jeffries, AKA Don-J. Green
Garage Productions really came together by a series of chance
meetings and family ties. It was while Jordan was in college in
Memphis, Tennessee, 1992, that he was given a cheap beat program
called Hip Hop Ejay from a friend's little brother. He fell in love
with the feeling of taking something as simple as a metronome and
turning it into a song. Before long, he joined forces with Levoy
Young (V.O.Y.), who had an old school off-white ...
Mariah Carey
"Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel"
August 25, 2009
Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel is Mariah Carey's 12th studio album,
and if you believe Mariah Carey's insistence that she's eternally
12-years-old, then this means that she has a record for every year
she's been alive. But more important than Mariah's quantity of
output, is Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel's content. For the album
Mariah worked with Timbaland, longtime collaborators Jermaine Dupri
and Walter Afanasieff, but the lion's share of the album's tracks
were co-written by The-Dream and Christopher "Tricky" Stewart, who,
in addition to writing E=MC2 lead single "Touch My Body," are
responsible for some of the best pop songs on the radio in the last
few years. But that presence on the album is unlikely to supplant
Mariah Carey's own, very distinctive personality. Producer The
Dream wrote about ...
"PC Load Letter? What the F*&k
does that mean?" In the movie "Office Space," it was simply a copy
machine error Michael Bolton didn't know how to deal with. In the
Seattle music scene, however, PC Load Letter is a three-piece band
that you may have never heard of, but that you should definitely
start listening to now. And with a new CD coming out in July, you
will have the opportunity to catch them soon.
Chris Vincent and Jake Gray, who have known each other since
elementary school, had started a project about four years ago and
were working on recording some demo material at Chris' house. Chris
has been playing guitar for about fifteen years, and Jake has
played bass around the same length of time. They ran into their old
elementary school buddy, Elvin Bucu, who happened to have been
mastering the drums for the ...
